All of these products will be delivered in time but the dates have been postponed indefinitely due to the governors shutdown of non-life sustaining businesses. As soon as we define future dates for delivery of these services, we will do everything to communicate the information. Board Meeting Cancelled UPDATE: COVID-19 Breakfast/Lunch/Backpack Project Weekend Meals Information This information document is directly related to the recent closure of the as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Please know that the is committed to providing the best possible service to our students in this very difficult time. Updates are being provided to us on an hourly basis and we will continue to provide our families these updates as we receive them. We will provide breakfast and lunch to all children under the age of eighteen (18) beginning March 17, 2020. We will also provide the Backpack Weekend Meals Project to students who had previously signed up for the program. Please see the attached information for locations and times. Scholarship Opportunities Scholarships have been released by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. For information, please go to cfalleghenies.org, find scholarships, and search Greater Johnstown. Scholarships will come up for our students. You can apply for any scholarship that you qualify for. School Closure The Governor has determined that due to the concern of COVID-19, we are closing our schools and postponing all activities beginning Friday, March 13 through , Sunday, March 29, 2020. We want to ensure that our families have plenty of time to prepare for this untimely event. We will remain in constant contact with the Department of Education, Department of Health, the Center for Disease Control, and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. We will provide updates via our district website and social media sites. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this difficult time.The GJSD has applied for a waiver in order to provide lunches at various locations throughout the city. Coronavirus Information and Resources The , in an effort to keep our parents and students informed, is providing a link for information regarding the Coronavirus IMMEDIATE RELEASE IMMEDIATE RELEASE To: All Local Media Outlets From: Amy Arcurio, Superintendent A teacher at the Greater Johnstown High School, who works as an employee at Conemaugh Health System, believed they may have been in contact with a person who was in contact with a patient suspected of having COVID-19 last evening while at work. With the best of intentions, this employee reported to our high school today, donned a surgical mask, and told our students to refrain from close contact. After conversation with Conemaugh Hospital officials we have learned that there has been no confirmation of COVID -19 and that our employee had no direct contact with any suspected patients. The advice from Conemaugh Health System is to continue to follow universal precautions such as frequent hand-washing, avoid touching your face, and cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue or elbow. At no time did they direct our employee to self-quarantine, refrain from public places, report off work, or wear a mask. Again, we appreciate the effort of our employee but fully recognize the immediate concerns this caused within our schools and community. Summit Voice Summit Voice SAT Testing and College Fair Juniors and Seniors who are returning to school, and who need to take the SAT tests, should stop in TCAP, JHS Room A228, to sign up for the testing and for more information. Juniors and Seniors interested in attending the college fair should also stop in TCAP, JHS A228, to request a permission slip and to sign up. There is limited space available, and this will be on a first come first serve basis. Please make sure to have a hall pass when visiting TCAP. For information regarding our program, please call the Morrell Neighborhood School at (814) 262-8184 Transportation Update Please remember to contact your child’s school during the summer months if you have any of the following: Address Change, Phone Number Change, Daycare or Babysitter Transportation Request (Please see the form on the website). A new Daycare/Babysitter form is required to be completed each year for every student. This information is not transferred from year to year. Safe2Say Something In June, 2018, Governor Tom Wolf signed school safety legislation as part of a response spurred by the February 2018 horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people. Act 44 mandates the establishment and use of the "Safe2Say Something" (S2SS) Anonymous Reporting System by every Pennsylvania school entity beginning January 14, 2019.
